I’d love to see an Iron Chef episode with MREs. If you bathe it in truffle shavings does it taste better?
I think people are more into it because it relates to ‘normals’ more. We all stuff our face but few of us know what an m113 is or why it matters.

And, no, truffle shavings ain’t gonna help. They actually taste pretty good now, but they were terrible at first.
One of the vids I looked at but didn’t post was of a taste test by some top chefs of the latest MREs. They weren’t impressed, but then, it ain’t haut cuisine, its “keep you alive” food.
